Smart URL redirects
for Safari

Redirect Engine rewrites where links go while you browse Safari. Match a URL pattern, strip tracking from shared links, install recipe presets, or describe a redirect in plain language with Pro - plus unlimited enabled recipes, platform-aware Sync, Email links to web based email on Mac, and iCloud on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

What you can do

Everything you need to take control of where Safari sends you - without changing how you browse.

Recipes library

Install ready-made recipes, such as Google to Kagi, Google Maps to Apple Maps, tracking removal, and Email links to web based email on Mac. Turn each recipe on when you need it.

Custom recipes

Match URL patterns and redirect them to your chosen search engine, maps service, or website in Safari.

Strip tracking

Clean links as you share them. Remove common tracking and affiliate parameters, including utm_*, fbclid, and gclid, with additional cleaning for Amazon, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Newegg, and IMDb.

AI Describe Recipe

Pro

Describe a redirect in plain language and Grok drafts a custom recipe for you to review and save - no need to write patterns by hand.

Email links to web based email

Pro

Open mailto: links in HEY, Gmail, Outlook, Proton Mail, and more on the web without the Mac Mail app opening first.

Platform-aware Sync

Pro

With Pro, choose where each recipe runs: all devices, iPhone and iPad only, Mac only, or this device only.

Safari extension

Enable the Redirect Engine extension to apply your active recipes automatically as you browse in Safari.

Capture groups & query params

Recipes can carry useful details from the original link into the new destination, including paths and search terms. One recipe can also handle several variations of the same link.

In-app purchase

Free to use. Pro when you need more.

Create as many recipes as you like for free. Redirect Engine Pro removes the enabled-recipe cap, adds AI Describe Recipe, platform-aware Sync (All Devices, iOS only, Mac only, or this device), opens mailto: links in the web based email provider you choose on Mac, and keeps the same recipes on every Apple device via iCloud.

Getting started

Install the app, enable the Safari extension on Mac, iPhone, or iPad, then add a recipe or recipe preset. When a URL matches, Safari opens your destination instead.

Setup guide Enable the extension & start redirecting Step-by-step for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS - including recipes and troubleshooting.

How it works

Recipes live in Redirect Engine. The Safari extension applies them as you browse - so matching links open the destination you chose.

Enabled recipes load into the extension. As pages navigate, it matches URL patterns in the background.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Safari redirects, Free vs Pro, privacy, and how recipes work.

Product

What is Redirect Engine?

Redirect Engine is a Safari extension and companion app for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. It rewrites where links go while you browse: match a URL pattern and send traffic to a destination you choose - another search engine, Apple Maps, a cleaned URL, or any site.

Platforms

Does Redirect Engine work on iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Use the Safari web extension and app on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. Enable Redirect Engine under Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions on each device. Step-by-step instructions: Help & Support.

Pricing

Is Redirect Engine free?

Yes. Free includes unlimited recipe creation, the Safari extension, recipe presets, strip tracking, and up to 1 recipe enabled at once. Redirect Engine Pro is a one-time purchase for unlimited enabled recipes, AI Describe Recipe, platform-aware Sync, Email links to web based email on Mac, and iCloud sync.

Pro

What is AI Describe Recipe?

AI Describe Recipe is a Pro feature powered by Grok that drafts a custom redirect from plain language. Type a short description, review the suggested pattern and destination, then save - no need to write patterns by hand.

Pro macOS only

Can I open mailto links in HEY, Gmail or Outlook on the web?

Yes, with Pro on Mac. Install a web based Mail recipe preset for HEY, Gmail, Outlook, Microsoft 365, Yahoo Mail, Fastmail, Proton Mail, or another supported provider so mailto: links open its compose page in Safari.

Pro

Does it sync recipes across devices?

With Pro, iCloud sync keeps the same recipes on Mac, iPhone, and iPad signed into the same Apple ID. Sync is handled by Apple iCloud, not by Redirect Engine servers.

Pro

Can a recipe run only on Mac, or only on iPhone?

Yes, with Pro. Each recipe has a Sync target: All Devices, iOS/iPadOS only, Mac only, or Off (this device). When Sync is not All Devices, Enabled is per device so you can pause redirects on one machine without turning the recipe off everywhere.

Product

How do query params and maps keep working?

Recipes can carry useful details from the original link into the new destination, including paths and search terms. One recipe can also handle several variations of the same link.

Privacy

Does Redirect Engine track my browsing?

No. Matching and redirects run entirely on your devices. We have no access to your browser or history. The optional AI Describe Recipe feature only sends the short description you enter when you request a draft. See the privacy policy for full details.
